medichecks has have made over 1200 blood, saliva, urine and stool laboratory tests available directly to clients, complete with easy-to-visualise results.

Over 5 million Online test results delivered
Over 17 years' experience providing health tests

Many tests only require a finger prick, similar to the blood sugar testing of patients with diabetes. Some tests need a venous blood sample.

Tip: If you struggle with the lancet provided with the test kit, we recommend THIS device which is used by thousands of diabetics for their blood tests. If a venous blood sample is required, you can either attend one of the many walk in clinics offered by Medichecks or they can arrange a nurse visit for an additional fee.

Thyroid result interpretation via Medichecks

We recommend ordering Medichecks thyroid results WITHOUT their report as we frequently see that their assessment of the thyroid function is VERY different to ours, especially when it comes to patients on NDT. This only leads to confusion.

Our recommendations are based on optimal levels and a deep understanding of thyroid results (especially on treatment with NDT), whilst medichecks compares results to NORMAL reference ranges, focuses on TSH interpretation and has no expertise in the effects of NDT on blood results.

Thyroid Health Checks

Don’t take Multiguard ADR or any other Multiguard, Strong Start MVM, Pregnancy Multi Essentials, Silica complete, Methyl B complex, Fema45   or another supplement containing BIOTIN for 7 days before any thyroid blood test, as this can alter your results for TSH, FT3 and FT4.
Please leave at least 10-12 hours between your last thyroid medication and a blood test, otherwise you might get incorrect results!

*) Important notice about retests for folate. Please be aware that folate has a higher-than-normal failure rate on finger-prick samples. For the best chance of success we recommend taking a venous sample for this test (either in-clinic or with a nurse home visit). Medichecks has made a finger-prick option available for this test. If you opt to take a finger-prick sample at home and you receive all test results except folate, they will refund £8 to your payment card. No retests for folate will be provided. By ordering a finger-prick kit for this test you agree that you will only be entitled to a refund of £8 should this happen.

Leptin Blood Test

Leptin is often called a 'hunger hormone' because it regulates appetite by signalling to the brain that you have eaten enough food. This test measures the level of leptin in your blood.

Leptin communicates directly with your brain, telling it how much fat is in storage. It controls appetite, energy and metabolic rate.  Insufficient leptin can cause a persistent sensation of hunger.  It also plays a very important role in calorie intake and calorie burning. This test may indicate why you have constant problems controlling your weight. If you lose and gain weight only to revert to the same size, you may have a problem with your leptin levels.

Allergy Screen (UK) Blood Test

A large proportion of society have certain allergies, although some may not know it yet. In those with an allergies, the body confuses a harmless allergen as a dangerous threat and so creates an inappropriate immune response. Allergic reactions can range from mild to severe, with symptoms extending from skin rashes and a runny nose, to difficulty breathing and seizures. This blood test checks to see if you are allergic to 17 of the most common allergens in the UK. Includes tests for peanuts, soya, wheat and pet dander.

There are several types of allergic conditions, this test looks specifically for the triggers for Immunoglobulin E (IgE) mediated allergies. This type of allergic reaction typically develops quickly after encountering an allergen, and can cause hives, itching and lip or facial swelling.

A positive result for a specific allergen increases the likelihood that there is an IgE mediated allergy for that substance. However it is possible for a positive result to exist in someone who does not have an allergy to that allergen.

This test looks for IgE reactions to the following substances which are common causes of allergy in the UK:

Food Mix: Cod Cows Milk Egg White Soya Bean Peanut Wheat

Grass Mix: Cocksfoot Meadow Fescue Meadow Rye Timothy

Individual Allergens: Cat Dander Cladosporium Herbarum Dog Dander House Dust Mite Latex Fish: Cod

Iron Deficiency Check Blood Test

This simple finger-prick blood test can give you detailed information about your iron status to help identify iron deficiency anaemia or iron overload.

Iron is an element that we require for several different bodily processes such as creating new red blood cells, carrying oxygen around the body and strengthening our immune system. Most of the iron in our bodies is found in haemoglobin, a protein in our red blood cells. A smaller proportion is stored in a protein called ferritin that is responsible for controlling the release of iron when levels are too low or high. Iron status tests measure the total amount of iron in the blood with a view to diagnosing anaemia or iron overload (haemochromatosis). They also test your body's ability to absorb iron as well as the amount of iron stored in your body.

What is included in the test:.
