Testing with medichecks

Arrange tests from your home

We have teamed up with medichecks for our Thyroid clients who live further afield.

medichecks has have made over 1200 blood, saliva, urine and stool laboratory tests available directly to clients, complete with easy-to-visualise results and comments from qualified doctors.

Many tests only require a finger prick, similar to the blood sugar testing of patients with diabetes. Some tests need a venous blood sample and medichecks can arrange this for you for an additional fee.

Our interpretation of results is considerably more detailed, aiming for optimal levels. We don't recommend to rely on the report generated by Medichecks.

The following test panels can be ordered directly to your doorstep.

Cortisol Blood Tests

To follow -up a saliva test with very low cortisol levels.

Cortisol blood tests are used to assess stress levels and help diagnose Cushing's syndrome and Addison's disease which are both adrenal disorders.

Blood - finger-prick or venous

ACTH

To assess Addison's Disease

ACTH regulates the production and secretion of the hormone cortisol by the adrenal gland.

Potassium

To assess Addison's Disease

Potassium is essential in regulating how the heart beats. It also helps in the transfer of nutrients into cells and of waste products out of cells and it influences the communication between nerves and muscles. Because potassium is not stable in postal samples, this test must be carried out at the laboratory.

Adrenal Cortex Antibodies

To assess Addison's Disease

Adrenal Cortex Antibodies destroy adrenal tissue, interfering with hormone production, by damaging various adrenal proteins, particularly the 21-hydroxy enzymes. This prevents the adrenal glands from functioning properly, meaning that they produce reduced amounts of steroid hormones, such as cortisol and aldosterone.

Aldosterone (Blood)
